These are the basic rules and words we will be using in the Assembly of the Martial Arts Academy.

Sabunim, SabunimG., this is what the martial arts instructors will be called.

Respect- you are expected to follow the instructions given to you by your instructors. It is expected of you that you will never use these martial arts techniques unless you are defending yourself. Otherwise your relationship with the martial artists at A.M.A.A. will be terminated.

Self-discipline- you are expected to control yourself to the best of your ability. The moves practiced will never be done without the supervision of an instructor or program coordinator. These moves are very serious and can hurt you and others around you. You think before you act, this is the most important part of being a martial artist.

Confidence- you know that you are smart, strong, and make good decisions. You can ADAPT to any situation and walk away knowing that what you did was right.

Focus- you are learning moves that require you to really work hard. Try your best to pay attention to your body. You will need to go slow at times to make sure that you are doing it right.

Push-ups- will be given out as a consequence for acting inappropriately, bad behavior, talking out of place, and yawning.

Cherio-keenya- this is the command to put your hands on the side of your thighs and bow. The bow is a show of respect and a way of saying hello.

Kia- this is what we shout as we are doing our moves. It is a release of air and energy that makes our moves stronger. Loud kias give us strength and confidence in our techniques.

If you do not understand something, ask a question. There are no dumb questions in martial arts.

If you feel sick you must let us know so we can help you.

You will use the bathroom before or after class.

Relax and remember that you are important.
